New Years Eve is a time of celebration and joy. People around the world gather in city squares and other popular venues to witness the new year countdown and join their favorite new year party. New Years Eve, is celebrated with a special traditional dinner, sparkling wine, fireworks, music and dancing. In some counties the streets and squares are filled with people and there are plenty of new year parties in bars and clubs. Famous places to ring in the New Year are Time Square in New York City, San Paolo, Amsterdam, Paris, Sydney, to name a few.

In some cities, famous artists and music bands attract new year party goers to squares, stadiums or other new year party venues. Certain artistic performances, such as the New Year's Eve concerts of Vienna Philharmonic, are well known New Years Eve traditions.
